An upcoming Kogi-born artiste, Lucky Itopa, has been arrested after allegedly kidnapping his neighbour and spending the ransom money on Android phones, alcohol, drugs, and women.
Itopa, who hails from Upake village in Ajaokuta Local Government Area, reportedly abducted his neighbour, A. Yesufu, and demanded a ransom of ₦6 million for her release. Upon receiving the payment, he fled and went on a lavish spending spree.
According to local sources, the suspect purchased a new motorbike, several Android phones, and a generator, before squandering the rest of the money on parties, hard drugs, and women across the state.
His brief moment of luxury came to an end when vigilante operatives in Upake tracked him down and apprehended him. Upon his arrest, Itopa was found to have ₦0.00 left in his bank account.
During interrogation, he confessed to the crime, admitting that he had “spent it all on women, drugs, and alcohol.”
The vigilante group subsequently handed him over to the police for further investigation, while the suspect reportedly begged for forgiveness.
Police sources say investigations are ongoing to determine whether Itopa acted alone or was part of a wider kidnapping syndicate.
