A Nigerian man has recounted his painful experience after his wife allegedly blocked him and withheld the location of their children shortly after relocating to Canada with them.

The man said the family had secured permanent residency in Canada, prompting him to resign from his banking job in preparation for the relocation.

However, he explained that his wife and children travelled ahead of him because he was required to remain in Nigeria temporarily while his employer conducted an audit of his position.

According to him, the situation took an unexpected and painful turn after his family arrived in Canada.

He alleged that his wife subsequently blocked him and refused to provide the address where she was staying with their children, leaving him unable to establish contact with them.

Narrating his ordeal, the man said: “I resigned as a banker when the permanent residency came. My wife and children left before me for Canada.

“I had to stay back in Nigeria because the bank needed to audit my position, so I couldn’t travel with them immediately.

“Unfortunately, when my wife got to Canada, she blocked me and didn’t give me the address where she was staying with my children. I’m heartbroken.”

The man's account has drawn attention to the difficulties that can arise when families relocate separately, particularly where one spouse travels ahead while the other remains behind to complete employment or other obligations.

The circumstances surrounding the alleged breakdown in communication between the couple remain unclear.
