The Federal Government has arraigned Adeniyi Adeyemi, Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, before the Federal High Court in Abuja over alleged forgery of official presidential documents.

Adeyemi was arraigned on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, before Justice Muhammed Umar on an eight-count charge bordering on alleged forgery of documents purportedly issued by the Presidency.

The prosecution accused him of forging an appointment letter allegedly issued by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and signed by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

He was also accused of forging presidential letterhead paper and other official documents allegedly used to advance the activities of the council.

According to the charges, Adeyemi allegedly forged requests for collaboration with the Ministry of the Area Council, as well as applications for land allocation and office accommodation across the 36 states of the federation, purportedly originating from the State House, Abuja.

When the charges were read to him in court, Adeyemi pleaded not guilty to all the allegations.

Following his plea, the court ordered that he be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the hearing and determination of his bail application.

The case is expected to proceed as the court considers the defendant’s bail application and subsequent proceedings.
