The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has called on security agencies to launch an immediate investigation into an alleged attack on the campaign team of Accord governorship candidate, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, in Ibadan.
The party said the incident occurred in the Molete area of the state capital on Wednesday, leaving several supporters of the governorship candidate critically injured.
Oyo APC Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, condemned the reported attack in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan on Wednesday.
Sadare urged the police and other security agencies to investigate the incident thoroughly and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.
The party’s reaction comes amid concerns over political violence and the safety of campaign teams as political activities intensify in the state.
The APC stressed the need for security agencies to act swiftly to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and prevent a recurrence.
