The Edo State Government, under the leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo, has commenced the pilot phase of onboarding 15 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) onto its newly deployed electronic governance platform, Edo Cloud, also known as Edo-Gov 2.0.
The pilot exercise, which featured intensive hands-on training sessions for staff of the selected MDAs and the automation of key workflows to ensure seamless integration, was held on March 18, 2026, at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy. The event brought together permanent secretaries, heads of MDAs, directors of shared services, and designated Edo-Gov champions.

Briefing journalists, the Edo State Head of Service, Dr. Anthony Okungbowa, commended the governor for achieving the milestone just over one year in office. He described the pilot phase as the most critical stage of the implementation process, noting that its success would lay the foundation for the full rollout of the platform across the state’s public service.
Okungbowa charged the Edo-Gov champions to ensure that organisational structures integrated into the system align with the approved organograms of their respective MDAs. He emphasised the importance of active participation by permanent secretaries, heads of MDAs, and directors of shared services, stressing that their contributions are vital to the accurate design of task workflows.
“The first cut is usually the deepest. You are the mouthpiece of the governor in each MDA. Sell to them the enhanced and improved features that have been introduced,” he said.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of the Edo State Information and Communication Technology Agency, Mr. Eghosa Uhroghide, said the deployment of Edo Cloud aligns with the administration’s broader public service reform agenda. He noted that the initiative is aimed at enhancing efficiency, reducing bureaucratic bottlenecks, promoting transparency and accountability, and lowering the cost of governance through digital transformation.
Uhroghide added that the platform represents a significant improvement on the previous system, explaining that members of the agency’s technical team, alongside Edo-Gov champions from various MDAs, were actively involved in its development and implementation. He expressed optimism that the upgraded system would renew staff engagement with the state’s e-governance processes.
Also speaking, the Technical Team Lead for Edo Cloud, Dr. Benjamin Ben, said the onboarding process, including workflow creation and testing, would significantly improve operational efficiency across participating MDAs.
He assured that the technical team would provide continuous support throughout the pilot phase and subsequent expansion, noting that the platform’s modules were designed to be simple and user-friendly to encourage widespread adoption.
The MDAs participating in the pilot phase include the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Office of the Head of Service, Directorate of Human Resource Management, Directorate of Government House and Protocol, Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy, Ministry of Science and Technology, Edo State Digital Governance and Data Management Agency, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Ministry of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Livestock Development, Ministry of Public Security and Safety, Directorate of General Services, and the Information and Communication Technology Agency.
