Ahead of the forthcoming Governorship election in Edo State, the Basic Education Teachers in Etsako Central Local Government Area of the State have pledged total support for the re-election of Mr Godwin Obaseki and Comrade Philip Shaibu while commending the effort of the Council Chairman, Comrade John Osi Akhigbe on his elevation of the Educational sector in the Local Government Area.
According to the Chief Press Secretary to the Council honcho, Ibrahim Umaru said the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Basic Education, Comrade Mike Uwgenu praised the governor at an event for remodeling the Teachers work through a digital framework adding that the right things need to be done to continue to build on the educational achievement now enjoyed in Edo State.
He said the Teachers are his major concern therefore he up holds them with high esteem by protecting them and making their job meaningful to them being an SSA to the Governor. He added that he has been able to clear the minor issues facing the teachers and pledged to continue to ensure that they receive whatever is due to them.
Comrade Mike, a Head Master and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Basic Education commended the Governor for being the first to appoint a Head Master as SSA in his administration since the creation of Edo State. He stressed on the need to re-elect Governor Obaseki who has recognized the importance of teachers and have duly assign them their right position in the scheme of things.
He appealed to the teachers to make their votes count for PDP adding that teachers are not going back to the era of suffering which has made many of the teachers to die at early age. Obaseki paid salary very early and the pensioners receive their entitlement as soon as they retire, promotions are going on regularly as and when due therefore we need to support the Obaseki’s led Government that has evidently broken away from the bad policies of the previous administrations which neglected teachers and left them in economic hardship, he said.
The Council Chairman, Comrade John Osi Akhigbe appreciated the Teachers for deeming it fit to organize and throw their wealth of support behind the Governor. He said everyone in the society knows the importance of Teachers in developing quality humans for the socio-economic growth of the state and the nation at large adding that the Obaseki’s led administration have a special arrangement for the Teachers which the Governor has embarked on since the inception of his administration.
Akhigbe revealed to the Teacher's how Obaseki warns them not to owe Teachers’ salary, no matter how poor the allocation that came, Teachers must be paid first noting that Obaseki has planted on them, the Local Government Chairmen that Teachers are special in his administration and that they should be taken proper care of.
He also stressed on the need for the Teachers to re-elect Mr Godwin Obaseki and Comrade Philip Shaibu. He said other States are trying to imitate the Governor’s initiative of improving the welfare of Teacher's which has earned him the award of the Best Governor on Educational Impact and Teacher's reform 2019. Governor Obaseki is not just building Schools but building human capital, he added.
He commended their level of cooperation for the present administration while appealing to them to pass the message viral urging the people to Vote for PDP candidate in other to continue to deliver the dividend of democracy to the people.
The Chairman of NUT Etsako Central Mrs Charity Nasamu who spoke on behalf of the Teachers applauded the Council Chairman’s effort on Education evident by the distribution of Modern plastic Table/Chairs, building of new schools and structuring the work of the Teachers in the Local Government Area to improve their teaching experience. She said that they have seen the ability of the Local Government Chairman because his administration has exceeded all expectations.
Rounding up with her speech Mrs Nasamu reassured of their commitment and cooperation to work energetically in delivering Mr Godwin Obaseki and Comrade Philip Shaibu come September 19.
