Ahead of Nigeria Super Eagle’s 2021 AFCON qualifying match holding today against Benin Republic in Uyo, Akwa Ibon State Nigeria, it seems technical advicer of the side Gernot Rohr has decided to stick with almost the same set of players that played Nigeria’s most recent international friendly games against Ukraine and Brazil respectively.

The two encounters ended in a draw, with the super eagles throwing away a two-goal lead against Ukraine to draw 2-2 and also losing concentration in the 1-1 draw against Brazil.

Despite the outcome of both encounters, the tactician has decided to settle with the same set of players, but he is expected to make some key changes at the back, with Olaoluwa Aina replacing Chiodozie Awaziem who played right-back against the South American giant.

South Africa based goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi is widely expected to start in goal in the absence of first-choice goalie Francis Uzoho with Okoye and Ezenwa as back-up. In all fairness, Akpeyi has been splendid for his club side of recent.

With the look of things in training, the coach will maintain the partnership of William Troost-Ekong and Semi Ajayi in the heart of Eagles defense. Jamilu Collins should retain his spot at right-back.

The midfield position will likely remain unchanged as Wilfred Ndidi is expected to play the defensive midfield role, Joe Aribo in Central midfield and Alex Iwobi playing right behind the striker.

Samuel Chukwueze and Samuel Kalu should flank Victor Osimhen upfront, despite the return of captain Ahmed Musa
