Towards ensuring peace and united Nigeria, as a young vibrant youth, having completed his secondary education, the Nigeria civil war broke out, in 1967 the dynamic young man was enlisted into the Nigeria Army. He retired 1999 with numerous awards of excellence.
In 2007, Alimikhena joined politics by contesting for the Edo North senatorial seat under the platform of People's Democratic Party but lost. He later contested in 2011 for the same senatorial post but lost again. Thereafter defected to the All Progressive Congress and contested for the same senatorial seat in 2015 and won after polling a total of 86,021 to beat his closest rival Pascal Ugbome of the People's Democratic Party who polled 66,062 votes.
Senator Francis Alimikhena was elected to the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as the All Progressive Congress candidate from Edo North in March 2015. He won the election with 86,021 votes. He was sworn in as a senator on 6 June 2015. It is noteworthy that Senator Alimikhena was the only elected All Progress senator in the entire South South and South Eastern part of Nigeria in 2015 general election.

| Senator Francis Alimikhena |
One unique feature of the distinguished Senator Alimikhena is the law of "Providence," he break even. At the peak of the Nigeria civil war where others were leaving the military for fear of the unknown, he joined the Army and succeeded.
After contesting twice under the platform of PDP and failed before he joined APC. In 2015 he contested and and became the only Senator from South / South region which offered him the ample opportunity to became a principal officer in the 8th Assembly. In 2019, Senator Alimikhena contested again and won overwhelming due to his performance. Again he became only Senator from the south/South of the country, having served ad a principal in the 8th assembly, there was need for for the party to upgrade him to the Deputy Senate president due to loyalty and dedication to the party. with Senator Omo-Agege losing from the judiciary as Federsl High court and Appeal Court nullifying his election and the likes of Senator Godswill Akpabio failed to return back to senate. The zoning of the Senate Deputy president to the region, is crystal clear that the Senator representing Edo North will occupy the exotic position without much politicking and agitations. What else can you use to describe a lucky and a man of Providence.
I think there is much to learn from the political experience of distinguished Senator Francis Alimikhena, how wish he made it to the Senate in 2007 and 2011, he may not have been much celebrated as it's today.
The national chairman of APC, comrade Adams Aliu Oshiomhole, the people of Edo State are proud of your legacy and tenacity to instill discipline and party supremacy to the ruling All Progressives Congress ( APC ).
No doubt, the people are optimistic that your reign as the national chairman of the party will bring the desired development to the country.
