An American woman has sparked reactions online after sharing the remarkable story of how she travelled from North Carolina to Nigeria for her first-ever flight and married her Nigerian partner just six days after meeting him in person.

The woman revealed that she had never boarded an aeroplane before embarking on the journey to Nigeria to meet the man she had been communicating with online for 10 months.

According to her, their relationship blossomed through online conversations before she eventually decided to take the bold step of travelling thousands of miles to meet him physically.

Her first experience on an aeroplane was therefore not just a journey to another country but a trip to meet the man she had come to love.

After arriving in Nigeria and meeting her partner face-to-face for the first time, the couple wasted little time in taking their relationship to the next level.

They reportedly got married just six days after their first physical meeting.

Reflecting on the whirlwind romance, the American woman described her Nigerian husband in glowing terms, calling him her “answered prayer”, “angel” and “sweetheart”.

“I flew for the first time ever on a plane from North Carolina to Nigeria after talking online for 10 months. We got married six days after we met in person,” she said.

“My husband is my answered prayer, my angel, my sweetheart.”

The unusual timeline of the relationship has generated reactions, with many people expressing surprise that the couple moved from an online relationship to marriage within days of meeting physically.

While long-distance relationships often take considerable time before partners meet in person, the couple’s experience took a dramatically different route, culminating in marriage less than a week after their first face-to-face encounter.
