Family, friends, business associates and well-wishers at the weekend gathered in Benin City to bid a solemn farewell to Vero Sonarae Oleghe, whose life and legacy were celebrated in grand yet dignified fashion.

The nonagenarian, who passed on at the age of 95, was honoured in a ceremony that drew a cross-section of mourners, all united in recounting her remarkable life of grace, compassion and service.

Tributes poured in as speakers described her as a woman of virtue and enduring influence, whose generosity and humility left an indelible mark on her community. Many noted that her legacy of kindness and strong family values would continue to inspire generations.

Her remains were later committed to mother earth in accordance with Christian rites, marking the close of a life widely regarded as impactful and fulfilled.

Among dignitaries present were Felix Omobude and Neda Imasuen, who joined other prominent figures in paying their last respects.

In keeping with tradition, a social dance reception featuring wining and dining was held at the weekend, providing an opportunity for guests to celebrate her life and share memories in a more relaxed atmosphere.

She is survived by her siblings, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren including her granddaughter, Princess, who serves as Personal Assistant to Senator Neda Imasuen—all of whom continue to uphold the values she cherished.
