The Edo State Government House Chapel in Benin City was abuzz with spiritual fervor as it held its weekly Special Intercessory Prayer Service on Wednesday, 22nd October. The service, themed "Putting God First," was led by Apostle (Dr.) Sule Faraday Azekhumen, Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor on Religious Matters and Chaplain of the Government House Chapel.
Apostle Azekhumen, drawing from Matthew 6:31-34, emphasized the importance of making God the highest priority in all areas of life. He encouraged the congregation to seek God's kingdom and righteousness above all else, promising that this would bring guidance, a clear path, and peace from worry.
"The way we live our lives should be focused on making God the center of our existence," Apostle Azekhumen said. "When we put God first, everything else in our lives aligns according to His perfect will. He directs our steps, provides for our needs, and fills the void space."
The service was marked by soul-lifting songs, ministrations, and testimonies from worshipers, including Pastor Benedict Osagie, Bishop Dr. Patience Aiguobasinmwin, and others. Several esteemed ministers of God attended the service, including Bishop Dr. Frank Ezele, Pastor S.O. Edogun, Bishop Dr. A.B. Balogun, Archbishop Prof. Shekina Omorogbe, Evangelist Mother Eunice Ateru, and Pastor Dr. Prince Omogwa.
Apostle Azekhumen assured the congregation that putting God first brings numerous benefits, including peace, guidance, wisdom, provision, and comfort. He cited the biblical example of Abraham, illustrating how trusting in God and putting Him first is rewarding.
"Putting God first is not just a principle; it's a promise," Apostle Azekhumen said. "When we invite God into our plans at the outset, He will guide us as we continue on that journey. So, put God first in your life, and your life will never be the same."
