Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has disbursed ₦492 million in grants to 1,187 young people across the state to support trading, farming, and equipment acquisition, in a move aimed at stimulating entrepreneurship and boosting local economic growth.

The beneficiaries include 276 youths under the ARISE Farmers Grant, 628 under the ARISE Traders Grant, and 263 under the ARISE Equipment Support Scheme. Additionally, eight entrepreneurs received ₦5 million each through the MSME Grant, while 12 others were presented with cars and minibuses to enhance their business operations.

Governor Eno explained that the initiative is part of his administration’s strategy to foster inclusive economic participation. He said the disbursement followed a stakeholder meeting convened to identify community needs for inclusion in the 2026 People’s Budget, ensuring that grants are fairly distributed across all federal constituencies in the state.

Commending the strong turnout in Uyo, the governor praised the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, for his role in fostering unity and strengthening collaboration between residents and the government.

For small businesses and young entrepreneurs, the governor noted, the funding offers a vital opportunity to expand operations, acquire modern equipment, and contribute to the state’s growing economic landscape.

“This intervention is not just about financial support; it is about empowering our people to be active participants in the economy, to create jobs, and to improve livelihoods,” Governor Eno said.
