— Party may announce new national chairman as Ganduje’s replacement
ABUJA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday evening met behind closed doors with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the party prepares for its highly anticipated National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Thursday.
The meeting, which took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, was held to allow the President to consult and align with APC governors ahead of key decisions expected to be made during the NEC gathering.
According to reliable sources, one of the major issues on the agenda is the selection of a new APC National Chairman following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje last month. The party is expected to deliberate on possible replacements during Thursday's session.
President Tinubu’s meeting with the governors is seen as a strategic move to consolidate party unity and ensure a smooth leadership transition, especially at a time when internal cohesion is crucial ahead of the 2027 general elections.
