New revelations have surfaced regarding the sudden death of a lecturer from the Education and Social Studies Department of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), who passed away during a private encounter with a 200-level student in a hotel room earlier this week.
The lecturer, whose identity is being withheld for ethical reasons, was said to have been a divorcé of eight months and a father to approximately 15 children. He reportedly had a known history of high blood pressure (HBP), raising concerns about the circumstances that led to his untimely demise.
According to sources close to the investigation, the lecturer had consumed three bottles of Guinness stout before checking into the hotel in Anyigba. After engaging in a first round of intimacy with the student, he allegedly ordered another bottle of alcohol in preparation for a second round. It was during this second attempt that he began to show signs of distress.
The female student, whose identity is also being protected, quickly alerted hotel staff when she noticed that the lecturer was unresponsive. The hotel management immediately contacted the Nigeria Police Force, who arrived at the scene, but the lecturer sadly passed away before he could receive medical attention.
A police source confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation is ongoing to ascertain the exact cause of death and determine whether foul play was involved. Meanwhile, the student involved has reportedly been taken into custody for questioning as part of the standard investigative procedure.
The university authorities have yet to release an official statement, but staff and students have been urged to remain calm while law enforcement concludes its inquiries.
