Ex-Aide Accuses Dogara of Hypocrisy Over APC Appointment After Opposing Muslim-Muslim Ticket

A former close associate of the ex-Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has launched a blistering attack on the former lawmaker, accusing him of hypocrisy, political manipulation, and betrayal of the Zaar (Sayawa) people.

In an explosive eleven-page open letter titled: “Behind the Curtain of Deceit: Unmasking the Architect of the Zaar Identity Crisis and Division,” Barrister Maigida Yakubu accused Dogara of publicly opposing the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket during the 2023 elections, only to later lobby for political appointments from the same government he condemned.

“Your trademark deceit and constant mistakes have finally received the attention they deserve,” Maigida wrote. “You acted like a hero opposing the APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket, pretending to be a moral leader. Yet, for the past two years, you’ve been chasing the same people for political favours without shame.”

The former aide alleged that Dogara’s recent acceptance of a minor political role in President Bola Tinubu’s administration is nothing more than a reward for political silence, rather than a genuine show of respect or inclusion.

“The government knows who you are; that’s why they gave you a small chairmanship position—not out of respect, but to silence you,” he said, claiming that Dogara now roams Abuja’s corridors of power “like a desperate fly, trying to get attention.”

Maigida further accused Dogara of stoking division and disunity among the Zaar people, especially the youth, whom he said the former Speaker used for political gain but never empowered.

“Tell us, is there any Basayi son or daughter who can truly say they were empowered during your time in office as Representative and Speaker?” he asked pointedly.

He also took a swipe at Dogara’s alleged financial dealings during his tenure in the National Assembly, claiming the former Speaker is better remembered for controversies surrounding budget padding than for any meaningful contribution to his constituency.

“In fact, ‘padding’ might be your most memorable legacy from the 8th Assembly, and it will always follow your name like a shadow,” Maigida stated.

The letter, which has stirred reactions online and within Bauchi political circles, paints a portrait of a once-powerful figure now accused of abandoning principle for personal gain.

As of the time of filing this report, Dogara has not responded to the allegations.
