The Edo State Government has sealed an unregistered health facility, Divine Grace Health Clinic, located at Ikhueran Quarter in Owan East Local Government Area, following alarming reports of illegal medical activities.
The action, led by the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr Cyril Adams Oshiomhole, came after a disturbing video surfaced online showing what appeared to be a surgical procedure taking place within the facility. The footage sparked outrage and raised concerns over the safety and legality of the clinic’s operations.
Upon an on-the-spot inspection by Dr Oshiomhole and his team, it was discovered that the clinic was not registered with the Edo State Ministry of Health and had been operating in clear violation of medical regulations. As a result, the facility was promptly sealed to prevent further endangerment of lives.
The individual behind the illegal operation, identified as Mr Ojo Godwin Oziren, is currently under investigation. Authorities report that Mr Oziren was not on site during the inspection and later claimed to be “out of town” when contacted.
Speaking on the development, Dr Oshiomhole reaffirmed the government's commitment to rooting out quackery in the healthcare system and urged members of the public to remain vigilant.
“We will not allow unqualified individuals to endanger lives in the name of healthcare,” he said. “I encourage all residents to report any illegal or suspicious health activities in their communities. Protecting the lives of Edo people is our top priority.”
The sealing of the illegal clinic is part of a broader initiative by the Edo State Government to strengthen the regulation of health services and safeguard public health across the state.
The Ministry of Health has assured that investigations are ongoing and appropriate legal actions will follow as necessary.
