A keen Nigeria football supporter has taken to social media to accuse the Nigeria Football Federation for not respecting professional footballers that served the country.
The fan who identifies himself as Tocopilla Phellumy took to Facebook on Thursday to call the Nigeria Football Federation led by Amaju Melvin Pinnick out for failing to pay last respect to late Nigeria international Isaac Promise.
''I actually don't blame players who snub Nigeria to play for another country. They know this country never appreciates what a player might have sacrificed for the nation on the field of play. Former U-20 captain Isaac Promise was laid to rest today and no NFF official was present at his burial, this is so sad. I have a video clip where Victor Moses snubbed NFF President Amaju Pinnick handshake. This shows what has been happening behind the scenes between both parties and how players are being treated.
''Isaac Promise was greatly missed by the club he played for during his time and this same club displayed banner to pay condolences which read "Rest in Peace" but the NFF never cared about his burial. Most Nigerian players that have sacrificed or done their best never gets reward likes of Sani Emmanuel , Rashidi Yekini, Christian Chukwu to mention a few.
''If this doesn't change in our football system most players will keep snubbing Nigeria and play for the country that will give them the best.''
Promise was captain of the Nigeria side that won silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and was also part of the Flying Eagles class of 2005 that took second position at the World Youths Championship in Holland.
According to reports, nobody from the Nigeria Football Fraternity was present at the burial ceremony in Nigeria
He spent much of his career in Turkey, with Trabzonspor among his former clubs, and also had a brief spell in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ahli.
