I was ambushed - Akinlade raises alarm

Ogun APM governorship candidate, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade, has said he was ambushed by a reporter who released a private video of his encounter with him.

Hon. Adekunle Akinlade described the release of the ,"unauthorized video by TMmedia as a breach of his privacy and trust."

According to a statement by his Media Aide, Azeez Adelani, on Thursday, it was said:

"In the morning of Wednesday the 1st of January, 2020, the Editor of TMmedia visited Hon. Adekunle Akinlade at his Agosasa country home and after exchanging pleasantries, requested for an interview.

"The editor then requested to record the process to assist in writing his story which Hon. Akinlade obliged, even though he was still in his pyjamas. It came as a surprise that rather than use the recording to write his story, the video was released to the public without regard to his privacy.

"The norm is that where a video recording is required for public use, the individual must be notified to enable him or her dress up appropriately. In this instance, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade was ambushed in his pyjamas early in the morning. This is unfair and deliberately orchestrated to embarrass him.

"This unethical act and breach of trust is unacceptable. The media team to Hon. Adekunle Akinlade has since requested for the deletion of the said video and an unreserved apology to the person of Hon. Adekunle Akinlade."

However, Adelani said, "Despite this abuse of trust, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade will continue to accord members of the press full corporation and unreserved access at all time."
