A fire outbreak on the runway of Port Harcourt International Airport, on Saturday evening, reportedly disrupted flight activities.
It was gathered that the fire hindered a Max Air flight from taking off while an Arik flight had to return to base.

Also, a Dana flight from Abuja to Port Harcourt  had to return back to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, as it could not land due to the fire according to reports.
Although the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria is yet to disclose the cause of the fire, sources say it was a bush fire.

A source said the airport had been closed for the smoke to dissipate and would be opened shortly.

A source in one of the affected airlines also confirmed the incident.
