The Executive Chairman of Etsako Central Local Government of Edo State, Com. John Osi Akhigbe on Wednesday held a peace meeting with Fulani herdsmen and farmers over the recent destruction of farmlands in Ogbona community by cows.
The meeting was attended by the Eghiegba of Ekperi, HRH Alh. DY Kanoba, HRH Willie Idode, the Ukpe-Ukpi Ogbona Sub-Clan, representative of the Fulani herdsmen,Mallam Zekeri, DPOs of Fugar and Ogbona, DSS in Fugar and the farmers.

Speaking, the council boss had appealed to the security operatives to help maintain peace between the fulani herdsmen and the farmers as his people can no longer go to farm freely without fear of being raped, kidnapped or even killed by this herdsmen.
He urged the herdsmen to learn how to cohabit and staying away from people's farms "You cannot come to my place and put my people in hunger, he warned.
"We will coperate if they are ready to stay in peace with the people, all we need is peace in the local government", he added.
In the same vain, the Fugar DPO, Mr. Ibrahim Ishaq had appealed to the traditional rulers to always tell their subjects to report any form of destruction of their farmlands to the police for investigation and compesation.
The representative of the Fulani herdsmen, Mallam Zekeri also appealed to the farmers to be patient as adequate compensation will be paid to them as soon as the level of destruction was ascertained.
