It was fanfare and excitement at the 8th South-Ibie day celebration on Saturday as the occasion attracted crowd within and outside the community.
Dignitries including traditional rulers from within and outside South-Ibie kingdom also graced the occasion.
The Aidonigie of South-Ibie Kingdom, HRH Alhaji Aliyu Danesi thanked all dignitaries that grace the occasion while using the opportunity to enlightened the public on the importance of the South-Ibie Day celebration.
According to him "It is important that the people at home and in diaspora meet once in a year to facilitate and discuss to find solution to common problem we have."
The monarch said that the event has been improved upon over time to give attendees positive things to take home at the end of the occasion.
He said: "We have a football tournament christened "Idonogie football club" designed to identify young ones who are talented in football, so that we can show them to those managing football at the state and federal level.
"This year, we also introduce two things- education and health. We will award scholarship to indigent children, so that they can acquire education. We will ensure that they get education money can buy."
The mornach added that if the children must be educated, the parents need good health to provide the needed training."
To this end he said free heathcare services have been provided at the event in partnership with the Irrua Specialist hospital.
He urged the people to take advantage of the free medical services to care for their health.
On future plan for the yearly event, the monarch said that plans are underway for the annexation of the Irrua Specialist Hospital at the community.
"In no distant future, we will have a branch of Irrua Specilist Hospital at South-Ibie community." He furthered.
The guest lecturer, Professor, Mustapha Danesi in his presentation entitled "How to Prevent Sudden Death and Maintain a Healthy Life" appealed the people of the community to take their health seriously.
He listed the causes of sudden death to include poor dietary practices, stress which include travelling long distances.
He, however, advised that to prevent sudden death people should do regular medical test, eat more fruit and vegetable, exercise, maintain positive outlook, set goals and above all prayer and meditation.
The occasion witnessed cultural displays, prayers and blessings from the the monarch. Hunters, traders and other business people also came to receive blessing of the monarch for the coming year.
Speaking to newsmen at the end of the event, the Chairman of the occasion, Gen. Abu Ahmodu (Rtd) said the event afforded the opportunity for the sons and daughters of South-Ibie to come together again to unite, share love.
He urged the people to live as one in a very united, indivisible community and support His Highness, the Aidonogie of South-Ibie kingdom as he steers the mantle of leadership to the highest pedestal
