Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has expressed happiness about the allowances provided to the orphans in Kebbi state by the International Islamic Relief Organization to cater for their livelihoods, especially educational development.
A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Abubakar Mu’azu Dakingari says, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu made this known at the Presidential Lodge, Birnin Kebbi at the disbursement of allowances to the orphans by the Islamic Relief Organization based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Governor advised all guardians entrusted to manage the funds for the upkeep of orphans to fear Allah by ensuring the beneficiaries obtained quality education.
He commended the organization for sustaining the prgoramme since 1975 when the late Head of State General Murtala Muhammad made a donation of One Million Naira to the funds, to maintain continuity of the social welfare scheme.
Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu requested the organization to increase the number of beneficiaries in the state in view of the influx of people from other places which made it the third state after Borno and Yobe with the highest number of internally displaced persons.
The Governor said his administration would strengthen such benevolence by establishing a similar body to assist orphans.
Earlier, Mallam Tahir Baba Ibrahim of the International Islamic Relief Organization who representative the Regional Director explained that the objective of the organization was to assist and support orphans worldwide to acquire education in respective of religion, tribe, region or sex.
Furthermore, the Islamic Relief offer assistance to construction of mosque, provision of drinking water as well as assist humanity affected by natural disaster.
Mallam Tahir Baba said the disbursement was taking place in eight locations, comprising of Birnin Kebbi, Gulumbe, Gwandu, Koko, Argungu, Jega, Shanga and Yauri commending Kebbi state government for supporting the operations of the organization in the state.
In his remark, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Babale Umar Yauri said Kebbi state government has provided all the necessary support and logistics to facilitate the disbursement process.

About three hundred million naira would be disbursed to orphans in the state numbering two thousand and seventy three.
