Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu advise electricity customers to always pay their bills to the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company so as to maintain 24 Hours electricity availability in the state.
At an interaction with the Press on Sunday, at the Government House Press Centre, he remarked that electricity generation and distribution is now undertaken by private sector companies. The distribution companies pay for what is delivered to them by the Transmission Company of Nigeria, and where they are unable to collect from customers, the supply may not be maintained.
The Governor lamented that while the State Government had spent over three billion naira on the last three years on feeders, transformers, local distribution networks and with the cooperation of KEDCO and TCN, was able to achieve 24 hours supply to all parts of the state, failure to pay customers is now making it difficult for KEDCO to supply all the electricity that is required.
At the interaction, which has in attendance representative of KEDCO in person of Malam Sani Muhammad Sakaba and TCN represented by Haliru Ibrahim Bashar, it was mentioned by KEDCO that in February 2019 alone about Nine Hundred Million Naira worth of electricity was supplied to the State but payment by customers had remained under Three Hundred Million Naira.
The two representatives however, acknowledged that tremendous commitment of the state government, which includes monthly support to enhance the collection.
The Governor also mentioned that at a meeting he held with senior management of KEDCO earlier in the week he was assured that one of the approved Meter Providers is coming to install meters and bring to an end estimated billing.
He urged customers in the state to reciprocate by performing their obligations and ensure that Kebbi state continue to enjoy 24 hours electricity supply.
In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Mu’azu Dakingari, the Governor also thanked all stakeholders for their support in achieving the 24 hours supply goal.
