A former Chairman of Etsako West local government, Edo State, Dr. Bruno Oshionebo has called on retirees and those planning for retirement in government institutions to invest in their local community as a way of developing and creating job opportunities for the teeming Nigerian youths at the grassroots level.
Dr. Bruno spoke at the grand opening of a multi-million naira hotel and recreational centre cristened Partick Resort and Suits in Elele, Edo north senatorial district on Sunday.
According to him: Those who have served in government institutions in the city should endeavour to come home and invest. We are encouraging more of them to come to the village and develop instead of withholding in the city."
He commended the host Mr. Clement Osikhena, a retiree of the Central bank of Nigeria and Chief Executive Officer of the Resort for his foresight in establishing the project at Elele adding that it is a big development to the community.
During the ribbon-cutting section of the event, the Village head of Afowa community, Chief Iakhomi Imokhai stressed the need for the sons and daughters of Elele community especially those who have retired but still have the zeal and strength to work to come home and invest in a bid to develop the community.
He said: "You see, our people most of them when they retire remain in the city where they are because they think they can't get the luxury they enjoy in the city here. I want to advise that they should emulate what Mr. Clement has done for coming hometo invest in order to bring development to the community."
On his part, the Chairman of the occassion, Mr. Monday Onoriaode Olotewo, former branch controller, CBN, Ilorin said that the project will be of great benefit to the community.
The Chief Executive Officer of Partick resort and suits, Mr. Clement Osikhena stated that, the Resort is fully ready for business has the management team has put in place experts and professionals from tourism sector to run the outfit.
