South-south and the agitations for 9th Assembly

South/South comprises of six states from the oil rich region of Niger Delta which provides over sixty percent of the Nation revenue.

PDP controlled majority of the states in the geopolitical entity,  Edo State is the only State controlled by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Most of the National Assembly seats from Edo south and Central is dominated  by the the PDP.
Edo North is the safe heaven for APC and claimed all the National Assembly seats in the just concluded 2019 general elections. With  overwhelming victory for the party.  it shows that the the National chairman have  control of the senatorial district.

The scramble and agitations for principal officers for the 9th Assembly has commenced by interested parties  lobbying for support even across party differences.

With the permutations that the Senate President may be zone to North East and Speaker zone to South West region what is the fate of South/South region  considering the strategic importance of the zone in Nigeria political development.

For absolute loyalty and commitment to APC, Senator Francis Asekhame Alimikhena,Deputy Whip of the Senate deserves elevation.
The people of South/South have resolved to settle for the agitations for Deputy Senate President, the zone once occupied the position of the Deputy Senate president in the second republic.

Senator Alimikhena has the prerequisite knowledge  having serve has a principal officer in the 8th Assembly where he disposed excellent leadership style.



Senator Alimikhena is a  person you can trust with any leadership position in Nigeria politics as a politician loved by anybody who come across him. His generosity Sparks volume for him.

Senator Alimikhena has done creditably well in rally round president Muhammad Buhari and will continue to do same in the 9th Assembly in line with the party principles and guidelines  in providing succour to the people.

We therefore appealed to the party hierarchy to zone the Senate president to South/South in order to strengthen the party in the zone

In the lower chamber the region equally deserved a key position, in the 8th Assembly Rt. Hon Pally Iriase from Edo North, representing Owan Federal Constituency is the present Deputy Whip of the House and he is not returning to the house, as professor Julius Ihonvbere has been elected to represent the constituency in the 9th Assembly.

Rt. Hon Johnston Oghuma representing Etsako Federal Constituency is  rallying support and prepared to take the mantle of leadership as a principal officer having displayed exemplary leadership prowess in the 8th Assembly, he is ready to wear the shoes.

We have to support  our distinguished sons in this struggle, it is our collective effort and not personal  struggle.
