Senator Alimikhena Asekhame Francis of the All Progressives Congresss on Sunday emerged winner in the 2019 National Assembly election for Edo north senatorial district to retain his seat at the upper legislative chamber.
Declaring the results of the election, the INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Moses Osawaru of the University of Benin announced that, Senator Alimikhena polled a total votes of 117, 783 to defeat his close rival Engr. Momoh Abubakar of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
"I Prof. Moses Osawaru satisfy that am the returning Officer of Edo north district senatorial election held on the 23rd of February, 2019... the election was conducted, that candidates received the following votes: APC 117, 783; PDP 80, 752 votes..."
Reacting to the victory, Senator Alimikhena said that the 9th Assembly will be dominated by the All Progressives Congress members and the people of his constituency will witness increased developmental projects in the district.
