47-year-old housewife beats nephew to death over #6, 500

 An 11-year-old boy has been forced to pay, through death, the price of a sin he never committed.

The deceased, Chibuike Egeonu, was allegedly beaten to death by her uncle's wife over a missing paltry #6,500 that was later discovered to have been taken by his uncle.

According to reports, Mrs. Joy Egeonu, 47, now in police net, after allegedly committing the heinous crime, and with the active connivance of her husband, hurriedly took the late Chibuike's lifeless body to Ifo, also in Ogun State and buried.

The assailant, it was gathered, threw caution to the wind on discovery that the money was missing and quickly jumped into conclusion that the deceased was responsible for it and wasted no time in meting jungle justice on him.

The sad incident, which sent shivers down the late boy's mother's spine, resulted in the bereaved woman's lodgement of a complaint with the police at Agbado Divisional Headquarters, following which the suspect was arrested.

In a press release made available to newsmen by the Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the incident occurred at Opeilu area on February 3,



According to Oyeyemi, "On the strength of the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Agbado Division, CSP Omonijo Olatunde, led his detectives to the scene where the woman was promptly arrested.

"On interrogation, the suspect allegedly suspected the boy of stealing the said money, and out of anger, she beat him to coma and was rushing him to the hospital when he breathed his last, adding it was much more later she realized that the said money was taken by her husband. She has since taken detectives to where the boy was hurriedly buried", the PPRO said.

However, according to the police image maker, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation. The CP has equally ordered for the arrest of the suspect’s husband, who was alleged to have aided the suspect in burying the boy in order to cover up his wife's criminal act.
