Governor Kashim Shettima earlier today sworn in 21 newly appointed commissioners who would serve as members of the State Executive Council to complete his second four-year tenure.
The Swearing In Ceremony which took place at Multi Purpose Hall, Government House, Maiduguri was administered by the Acting Chief Judge, Justice Fadawu Umoru, attended by dignitaries including supporters from the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC in the State.
Governor Shettima had dissolved the former cabinet a week preparatory to the election of party candidates to allow some of the aspirants who were commissioners participate in the elections for justice, equity and a level playing field in the campaigns.
Of the 21 commissioners, most of them served in the former cabinet and now re-appointed. They were Kaka Shehu Lawan, Adamu Lawan Zaufanjinba, Mustapha Fanarambe and Babagana Tijjani Banki.
Shortly after their swearing-in, Governor Shettima congratulated them on their new appointments and called on them to live up to expectations as he reiterated the fact that their appointments was based on merit, enjoining the appointees to work assiduously and repose the confidence government have on them in the course of discharge of their duties.
The Governor restated the determination of his administration to continue to focus on the welfare of the civil servants and improve the living conditions of the people.
He also appealed for support and understanding in the trying moment of security challenges and expressed optimism that peace would be restored in the state.
In a vote of thanks on behalf of the branded new commissioners, the former Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General, Barrister Kaka Shehu Lawan thanked Governor Shettima, members of the State House of Assembly and stakeholders for giving them the opportunity to be appointed and serve as Commissioners.
The Legal Luminary assured their total support and cooperation to the present administration succeed, especially now that the 2019 general elections is fast approaching.
Meanwhile, Secretary to the State, Usman Jidda Shuwa announced the portfolios in a statement distributed to journalists on Monday evening.
