During service, Corps Members like Civil Servants are not allowed to take part in partisan politics. They, however, free like other citizens to exercise their voting rights but they cannot be put up as candidates during elections to be voted for. They cannot also mount soap box to campaign for any political party.
Corps Members are not expected to abscond from duty, they are expected to display industry at work and be detribalized, have an unbiased mind towards their host communities, and above all, be organised as disciplined militia mobilized to spur national development in all sphere and work assiduously to eliminate the ills and canker that have eaten into the fabric of our nation.
Also, any journey outside the state of deployment during the Service year must be approved by the State Director. No leave is granted except the 3 week terminal leave. However, maternity leave of three months is granted a pregnant Corps Member, such a beneficiary automatically forfeits the 21 day terminal leave.

Those who are inducted for a reach of the law are made to face various punitive measures and those considered as absconders are made to begin the service year afresh, whenever they return.
