Gunmen Abduct Uniport Lecturer

Victor Edozie Port Harcourt — Unknown gunmen yesterday abducted a lecturer with the University of Port Harcourt, Professor John Okoli. Dr William Nwodu, the director of public affairs of the university who confirmed the story to journalists in Port Harcourt said Professor Okoli was abducted in Port Harcourt. He said, "They have just confirmed that Professor John Okoli, Director of the Offshore Technology Institute was kidnapped. It is becoming turn by turn in Uniport. This developing situation is becoming the new normal and seriously hampering our core mandate of teaching, research and public service. Staff live in fear of who is next while experts from abroad who may wish to collaborate with us are becoming increasingly hesitant to come Uniport."
